Hospital bosses severely criticised in report

Management at the Hospital have been severely criticised in the SCB document, which was published yesterday following the conclusion of a long-running case lodged by a doctor whose contract was terminated just days before he was due to return to Jersey to take up a consultant role in the Ophthalmology Department in 2012.

The board, which hears grievances against the States, said that the decision was an unlawful termination of Dr Amar Alwitry’s contract and added that his treatment had been ‘appallingly shabby’.

It has now made a series of recommendations, including calling for an urgent and independent review of management within the Hospital.
