Village improvement scheme cut in order to meet austerity targets

The Infrastructure Department, formerly Transport and Technical Services, had set aside £500,000 a year until 2018 to fund projects in different parishes.

St Aubin was the first to receive the funding before St Mary’s underwent a revamp designed to improve traffic safety in the parish – work on that project, which totalled more than £860,000, was completed earlier this month.

Now the department have confirmed that funding for parish centre improvements has now been withdrawn to meet savings targets as part of this year’s Medium Term Financial Plan Addition.
