Don Thompson said the Brexit result was exactly what the fleet wanted.
He said: ‘Ninety per cent of UK fishermen intended to vote to leave Europe to take back control of British waters and for the fisheries of this Island and the UK Brexit is exactly what they were hoping for.
Mr Thompson said that although Jersey is not within the EU, Jersey’s fisheries regime is based on a fisheries management agreement with the UK that binds the Island to automatically accept and adopt all EU fisheries regulations.
