Tractor takes farmers down memory lane

Retired farmer Tom Binet (83) and the man who sold him the David Brown Selectamatic 880 for £1,200 in 1970, Gerald Vautier (90), met at Ernie Le Feuvre Ltd in Trinity on Wednesday.

They marvelled at the handiwork of tractor enthusiasts Des Hinault and Steve Hamon, who both devoted more than 50 hours of their spare time over many months to the restoration.

After numerous coats of paint and a new set of tyres, the highly collectable vintage machine is now worth anything between £6,000 to £8,000.
