Swap deal for Royal Square building?

Two years ago States Members approved a proposition from Deputy John Young to scrap plans to sell Piquet House to a private buyer for an undisclosed sum.

The property, which was built in 1803 to house soldiers, remains empty but the JEP has learned that there are plans for a possible land swap, if States Members agree.

Infrastructure Minister Eddie Noel, who has political responsibility for the States property portfolio, is expected to take a proposal to the States for debate in the autumn which would allow the building to be given to the local armed forces charity and in return the public would be given Legion House, 2-4 Great Union Street.
