Metropole appeal quashed

Deputy Steve Luce used the powers available to him to over-rule Graham Self’s recommendation to scrap developer Dandara’s approved scheme to build at the Roseville Street site.

After receiving planning approval in October, the proposals became the subject of a third-party appeal by Susan Boyle, who lives opposite the disused hotel.

During the appeal earlier this year she told Mr Self that the scheme would cause a loss of privacy, that the project’s mass, scale and density were not in keeping with the area and that it would bring parking problems to nearby roads, however, Dandara argued that the Royal Court had already dismissed a similar appeal that Mrs Boyle lodged against a previously approved scheme for the site.
