Student did not steal drugs from us, says chemist

It was alleged in court during the trial of five teenagers in connection with the Victoria College student’s death that Mr Huelin stole the painkillers morphine and liquid codeine from the branch of Reids Pharmacy, where he held a Saturday job following a successful stint of work experience.

Morphine, codeine, promethazine and the so-called legal high etizolam were found in Mr Huelin’s system following a post-mortem examination, however, Robert Reid, co-owner of the pharmacy network, which operate five stores in Jersey, has refuted the claims made by one of the defendants and said that the police investigated the possibility that Mr Huelin took drugs from the store but found nothing.

After Mr Huelin’s death, Reids paid tribute to the 16-year-old, describing him as having a cheerful personality, impeccable manners and being an asset to the team.
