Jersey a target for UK legal high suppliers?

But experts are warning that Jersey could become a target for some suppliers who will look to exploit loopholes in the law that mean some drugs that are now outlawed in the UK are still legal in the Island.

As of midnight on Wednesday, the new Psychoactive Substances Act will prohibit ‘any substance intended for human consumption that is capable of producing a psychoactive effect’ to be traded in the UK, although there are certain caveats in place that mean food, drink and recognised pharmaceuticals are exempt.

As a result, scores of so-called legal-high supplying websites have shut down and were on Wednesday offering users ‘closing-down deals’ before they are ‘gone forever’.
