Let’s show our pride in the Islanders who care – have you nominated your community champions yet?

After the launch earlier this month and following the introduction of each of the categories in the JEP over the past two weeks, Islanders are now submitting their nominations via the prideofjersey.com website.

On the site, people are able to nominate at the click of a button from the homepage and then by simply selecting the appropriate category.

The 12 categories are: Ambassador of the Year, Child of the Year, Community Champion of the Year, Customer Service Employee of the Year, Environmentalist of the Year, Grandparent of the Year, Inspirational Leader of the Year, Jersey Angel of the Year, Neighbour of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Unsung Sporting Hero of the Year and Volunteer or Fundraiser of the Year.

Last year more than 400 nominations were received across the 12 categories, with each one of them featuring in the JEP.

JEP deputy editor Carl Walker said: ‘The response has been fantastic since the online nominations were launched on Friday, and we will soon start to feature them in the JEP.

‘We also want to encourage all those who nominated people last year to nominate again this year. Just because somebody wasn’t fortunate enough to win doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be nominated again, as this could be their year. Islanders in all areas of life are going that extra mile and we think they should be celebrated as often as possible.’

The website, which has been redesigned since last year, also contains a gallery of photographs from last year’s awards ceremony at Aviation Beauport.

The deadline for nominations is 11.59 pm on Saturday 25 June, with the awards ceremony taking place on Sunday 11 September.
