Over-50s urged to have prostate cancer blood test

According to the Channel Islands’ Cancer Report 2013 – the latest report on the disease – around 71 new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed each year in Jersey and it is the cause of death for between ten and 20 men annually.

This week is Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, which aims to educate people about the symptoms of prostate related diseases.

The most common age for contracting the disease is between 65 and 70 years old, but Islanders are offered a blood test from the age of 50 which can identify if they have prostate cancer.
