Business must respond to changing demands

Following the launch of the event at the Royal Yacht Hotel on Friday, Alexia McClure, head of operations for Jersey Business –the organising body for Enterprise Week, said that the event was important because it provided a picture of where business in Jersey is heading, the changes it has to face and what it has to do to prepare for the future.

The launch, which was attended by over 100 people from the business community, became a victim of the previous day’s fog which prevented speaker Dr Matt Pope from reaching the Island to deliver his talk.

The Icelandic lawyer, businessman and archaeologist triumphed over adversity, however, by addressing the conference by telephone and appropriately, his theme centred on the fragility of island communities and their need to adapt.
