Strict new regulations necessary if Air Display is to continue

Strict new regulations introduced in the wake of the Shoreham air disaster that killed 11 people in the UK last year mean the historical sites must be off-limits to the public together with the whole of West Park and St Aubin’s beach during this year’s display.

A rigorous exclusion area will also be strictly enforced preventing boats from coming into the bay and if boat owners disobey the restrictions the display will be immediately halted.

Deputy Mike Higgins, organiser of the event, said if Jersey Heritage, which is responsible for Elizabeth Castle, does not agree to the changes the display could be under threat.
