£1m boost for patients with Hep C

A total of £980,000 has been given to the Health Department from money not spent by other departments last year to pay for patients to be treated.

Until now, because of limited resources, only those with the highest levels of liver damage have been treated.

The Island’s consultant microbiologist, Dr Ivan Muscat, said the funding would make a big difference to the number of hepatitis C patients in Jersey, a current figure for which is not yet available.
