Drone misuse ‘inevitable’ even with code – civil aviation chief

Gus Paterson said that he was comfortable with the way drones were being used in Jersey, but that he received a few calls each month about potentially illegal use, with Jersey Airport dealing with a similar number of reports.

The remote-controlled devices have become increasingly popular in the past few years and recently made headlines when a pilot reported a possible collision with a drone at Heathrow Airport.

In Jersey users are not allowed to fly their craft within two nautical miles of the Airport without permission from Air Traffic Control and the States police confirmed that they had received a few calls each year about drone use, but that it was not a significant problem in the Island.
