Condor gets new chief executive

Mr Luxon, whose appointment was announced at the end of 2015, has started his new role after completing his final term as Guernsey’s Health Minister.

Condor has been beset by reliability difficulties with its £50 million fast ferry, the Liberation, over the last year and as well as cancellations, technical problems and engine failures, the vessel also hit harbour walls in Guernsey and Poole in 2015.

In a message delivered by video link to all the company’s staff this weekend, Mr Luxon challenged the company to return to running a consistently reliable service.
