Mum Kahilli gave birth to twins on Tuesday 26 April, which is a very rare event in gorillas and the first time it is believed to have happened in the British Isles.
Both infants appeared in a reasonable condition at first, though potentially a little premature, however, one of the babies was confirmed dead the following morning.
