The figure – which was revealed at a meeting yesterday to discuss Jersey’s latest employment data – equates to more than a third of a billion pounds a year being spent on anything from rent to office supplies.
And according to figures released this morning, employment in Jersey’s main industry rose again last year by 420 jobs to near pre-financial crisis levels, comprising a total of 13,010 jobs.
Assistant Chief Minister Philip Ozouf said that the ‘extremely positive’ figures should prove to the ‘non-believers’ that the finance industry in Jersey was strong.
