E-cigarettes are likely to be of benefit to people’s health, says latest report

The Chamber voted 34-1 earlier this week to pass a law aimed at protecting children against nicotine products which are used for vaping, an increasingly popular substitute for cigarette smoking.

However, a report released yesterday from the Royal College of Physicians called Nicotine without smoke: tobacco harm reduction, has found that e-cigarettes are likely to be ‘beneficial to public health’.

Dr Nigel Minihane, the head of the Primary Care Body, which represents all Island GPs, said that Jersey should listen to the findings of the report and to what Professor John Britton, chairman of the RCP’s Tobacco Advisory Group, says.
