Child abuser scared his victims into not telling

Nicholas Price Marvin, who lived in Alderney before moving to Jersey, was found guilty on Wednesday of abusing a teenager and another girl, who was aged just three when the abuse started, over a period of five years.

Following a seven-day Assize trial in the Royal Court, the jury of seven women and four men found the defendant guilty of four counts of indecent assault by a majority of ten to two. Three of the charges related to the younger girl and one to the teenager and all four occurred within a five-year period.

Marvin, who did not react when the verdicts were announced, had denied all the charges.

The jury found him not guilty of five separate counts of indecent assault, one count of inciting an act of gross indecency and one count of procuring an act of gross indecency.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear again in the Royal Court on Thursday, when a date will be set for sentencing by the Superior Number, which convenes only for Jersey’s most serious cases.
