St Peter ‘yes’ to plan for 40 homes for first-time buyers

More than 200 Islanders turned up a St Peter’s Youth and Community Centre on Tuesday night to discuss and vote on the matter, after the authorities moved the meeting from the Parish Hall to accommodate the high level of interest.

Parishioners voted heavily in favour of two proposals to go ahead with the scheme, which is being run in conjunction with Andium Homes, the private company responsible for States affordable housing.

The first vote for the parish to apply for planning to rezone the field, which sits in the green zone off Grande Route de St Pierre, was carried by 117 votes to 49, while the second, which was for the parish and Andium Homes to secure a preliminary legal agreement with the land owner, received the backing of 125 parishioners, with 38 voting against the move.
