Central figure in Island financial services to move into private sector

Joe Moynihan, the Island’s director of financial services, has announced that he intends to leave his position to pursue a career in the private sector.

The announcement comes days after the JEP revealed that Mr Moynihan was one of four civil servants who between them spent more than £220,000 of taxpayers’ money over the past five years on business flights around the world.

He spent a total of £57,060, including £6,610 on a trip to Sao Paulo and Lima last year and £6,544 on a 2013 return trip to New York.
