Appeal against rejection of Gas Place site homes plan

Despite receiving support from the Planning Department for their project, Castle Properties’ proposals for the Rue Le Masurier site were unanimously refused by politicians on the Planning Committee in February.

Now the developers are seeking a second opinion from an independent UK planning inspector, who is due to review the decision.

The area around Grand Marché and Gas Place had been identified by the States as a site for new development, but this week Senator Sir Philip Bailhache upheld an appeal against plans for 285 homes put forward by Jersey Gas, and overturned a decision granting planning approval for the project.
