Final decision on 300 Gas Place homes due

The plans were approved last year by Environment Minister Steve Luce, but residents of Tunnell Street, where the new homes would be built, went on to lodge an appeal against the project.

Under the proposals, which were submitted by site owner Jersey Gas, 285 apartments would be created, however, the residents’ appeal would have to be rejected in order for the original decision to stand.

An independent planning inspector has submitted a report about the appeal and made a recommendation over whether it should be allowed and that document has been reviewed by Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, who is due to uphold or reject the challenge at the end of this working week.
