Developers defend plans for Metropole site flats

The scheme was given the go-ahead in October, but Susan Boyle, who lives in Roseville Street with her husband John, challenged the decision, claiming that it would lead to a loss of privacy as their home would be overlooked.

She also claimed that the scheme was an overdevelopment of the site that would not fit in with its surroundings.

On Tuesday, however, at a public hearing about the dispute, Dandara told independent UK planning inspector Graham Self that they had attempted to alter their scheme while preparing their planning application after considering Mrs Boyle’s concerns and Mr Self heard how the company had already started preparatory site works under a different set of similar plans which had been approved in 2011.
