House prices hit record high after four per cent rise

During the year the cost of buying a house rose by four per cent when compared to 2014 – the second increase in as many years – and turnover hit a seven-year high.

According to the latest Quarterly House Price Index, record prices were set in all of the house categories, with the average cost of a two-bedroom property reaching £422,000, three-bedroom houses rising to £527,000 and four-bedroom properties hitting £744,000.

It meant that the average cost of a house in Jersey in 2015 was £456,000 – £32,000 higher than in Guernsey and £155,000 more than in England.
