Chef fined for growing cannabis to make smoothies

In what is believed to be the first case of its kind in Jersey, Piotr Grzegorz Kacki paid £2,000 for specialist growing equipment to cultivate the drugs in his St Helier home to make use of the alleged health benefits of raw cannabis leaves in homemade drinks.

The 26-year-old, who has previously worked at Cheffins and is due to return to Highlands College to complete a culinary course in September, was arrested on 8 November after police searched his apartment and found ten cannabis plants hidden in the loft.

Officers also found several growing tents and a ventilation pipe in the same room, the Magistrate’s Court heard on Friday.
