Pensioner sentenced for historical child abuse

Matthew Christopher McNulty, now aged 74, subjected one of the children to several sex attacks during the 1970s, before repeatedly targeting another girl during the 1980s and 1990s.

On Thursday he collapsed in the Royal Court dock moments after being sentenced to five years following a States police investigation under the banner of Operation Whistle – which is reviewing dozens of allegations against Islanders, as well as national celebrities and politicians.

During his sentencing by the Superior Number, which only convenes for the most serious of cases, McNulty was told that his actions had destroyed the childhood of his victims.
