Islanders provide a shelter for refugees in Calais camp

The boys, who are without their parents in the camp, have now been housed in a new shelter that can be erected in about two hours without the need for any building knowledge.

The £3,000 Shelter Unit for Rapid Installation (SURI), which can house up to six people for a decade, was bought by the Jersey Builders for Refugees charity.

Last month donations from Islanders helped Jersey Builders for Refugees to buy 40 tents, 80 sleeping bags and 20 gas-cookers for refugees in Dunkirk as well as building materials and the SURI shelter in Calais.
