The dual-carriage way was closed to traffic travelling westbound at around 5.45 pm as the Island was once again battered by gale force winds from Storm Imogen.
The east-bound road was later shut off by States police and honorary officers at 6 pm.
Honorary police officers were warning Islanders to steer clear of sea walls and other coastal areas because of the risk of volumes of water and debris coming over the wall.
