Hospitality training scheme for jobseekers

Social Security’s Back to Work scheme has introduced a programme aimed at finding work for locally qualified jobseekers in the hospitality industry by providing financial incentives to encourage hoteliers and restaurateurs to employ them.

Under the programme jobseekers will receive training in basic skills, such as food safety and customer services, before being matched to vacancies across the industry including waiting, housekeeping, reception and kitchen work.

Back to Work will then fund wages at the minimum wage for up to four weeks while they are being trained in their new role.

To receive financial support, the jobseeker must be locally qualified and have little or no previous experience in the industry.
