Holocaust survivor: States must continue to educate

Sami Steigmann was in the Island last week as a special guest for Holocaust Memorial Day, when he spoke about his experiences as a young boy in a Nazi labour camp in Ukraine.

On Thursday he was invited by Tony Pike, a committee member of the Channel Islands Occupation Society, to visit German fortifications at Les Landes.

After seeing gun emplacement Batterie Moltke and the MP3 radar tower, Mr Steigmann (76) said that he was impressed by the dedication and passion of the society, which is renovating both fortifications.
