Decision over release of finance centre documents to be made in next few weeks

In November the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel issued a summons, via the Privilege and Procedures Committee, to try to force the disclosure of information they had requested about the Jersey Development Company’s flagship project.

The panel began a review of the controversial scheme last year, but have been denied access to certain documents.

Towards the end of 2015 the group released an interim report which cast doubt over the scheme’s viability, but they still say that more information is needed to enable them to complete their work.

However, the JDC has continued to withhold information, claiming it is of a ‘commercially sensitive’ nature, and has challenged Scrutiny’s summons. A PPC hearing was held last week at which both sides put forward their arguments over the matter.

A further meeting of PPC is due to be held soon at which a decision is expected to be made.
