GALLERY: Christmas cheer aplenty in the Central Market

The pop-up ‘market within the market’ is an initiative that began in February to enable small-scale producers and businesses to promote their wares and to bring new life into the market.

Usually held once a month, it has become a weekend feature since late November to coincide with the festive relaxation of Sunday closing regulations.

Organiser Grace Davies said: ‘We had 25 stalls on Saturday and 20 on Sunday selling all sorts of things, from street food and ceramics to Christmas cards and decorations.

‘It has been fantastic and great for the market as it has certainly been busier, full of life and very Christmassy.

‘All the tenants are happy as we have seen people coming in to shop who don’t normally come into the market.’
