GALLERY: Grouville School’s new amphitheatre is open

The large wooden structure, which features a roofed stage and five rows of benches, has been build in the school’s playground by Dandara as part of their community development contract to develop the former Jersey Pottery site.

Project manager Michael West, who cut the ribbon to mark the amphitheatre’s opening, said: ‘I am a local boy and it’s really nice to give something back to the community.

‘It was great to see so many excited kids ready and raring to get on the stage and perform – I know Grouville’s head teacher Pam Pitman was talking about using it for poetry and Shakespeare so I think it will be really well used.

‘We had some sun for the opening, so we had a little taster of how fantastic it will be in the summer.’

Dandara also donated a mini van to the school earlier in the year.
