Bedroom fire in Grouville home

The fire started when a candle ignited paperwork in an upstairs bedroom of the property at about midday.

Two fire engines manned by nine crew members were called out but the fire, which had spread to a window frame, was extinguished by an occupant before they arrived.

The occupant suffered minor spot burns on one of their arms and minor smoke inhalation but did not require hospital treatment.

Firefighters used thermal imaging equipment to ensure that the fire had not spread into the walls.
