Elderly can collect Kirch Christmas vouchers from next week

Those who qualify for the vouchers, which are given away each year, can collect the gifts from their parish halls.

They must be claimed between Monday 30 November and Friday 11 December and can only be used at Co-op stores before Sunday 31 January.

Anyone wanting to pick up a voucher must bring proof of residency, such as a bank statement or utility bill, and proof of age.

In recent years Sir David has given away millions to elderly Islanders at Christmas and in 2013 he was knighted by the Queen in recognition of his charitable donations.

The multi-millionaire, who made his fortune in the UK property market, has also funded the development of homes for the elderly.

St Clement Constable Len Norman, the chairman of the Constables’ Committee, said: ‘I am delighted that the parishes are, once again, able to assist the charitable trust established by Sir David Kirch by distributing vouchers to our older residents.’

The first giveaway came in 2006, when Sir David celebrated his own 70th birthday and wanted to mark the occasion in a different and special way.
