PRIMARY school children at Mont Nicolle and Les Landes were celebrating after each school won £500 worth of playground equipment in the Jersey Evening Post’s Cash4Schools competition.

The head teacher of Mont Nicolle, John Baudains, said it was great news to have won and the children were looking forward to spending the prize money.

‘We are really excited about being part of the competition because it will have a huge benefit for children’s learning.

The voucher is a great start to helping us to ensure that the children have the best opportunity for learning outside. All the money we raise at the moment from charitable donations is going towards improving the school’s outdoor learning areas,’ he said.

Now in its second week, the annual competition, in connection with the One Foundation and playground equipment suppliers Form CI, will be giving away £18,000 to the primary schools that have registered to collect tokens published in the JEP every day.

In addition to the competition prizes, the foundation will be presenting £5,000 to one school and Form CI will be giving away £4,000 in spot prizes.

The head teacher of Les Landes School, Vicki Charlesworth, said: ‘We are delighted to have won this prize.

As a school we are committed to outdoor learning and we are always looking for ways to engage children in the playground.

The voucher will enable us to enhance our provision and the children are excited about the news.’

Last week’s winners were St Mary’s School and Jersey College for Girls Prep.
