Gallery and report: Bouley Bay Hill Climb

Intermittent rain and a damp track for most of the day ensured that no records would be broken, and very few new personal bests were set.

Fastest time of the day went to Richard Twinam in his OMS racing car with a very credible 44.94-second run, just pipping Colin Le Galle – with whom he shares the car.

Len Amy, in his Mallock Mk32 sports car, set the second fastest time of the day (45.09s) on his last run of the day.

The most entertaining class of the day was the rally cars, who clearly were enjoying the testing conditions which proved to be an ideal run out for October’s Paperclix Jersey Rally. Top of the time sheets and provider of the most thrilling power slides was Ross Le Noa in his re engined Mk2 Escort. He won the class with a very quick 47.60s run. Runner up and top prize for the only donut of the day was Jeremy Baudin in another Mk 2.

Winner of the other Rally car class was Stevie Leonard, again in an Escort Mk2, while James Buchanan claimed the largest car class in the Alexander Forbes Caterham VVC with a time of 50.53 seconds on his last run.

Despite the conditions there was a good turnout on the bike front in the main and historic classes.

The largest class of the day, the ‘up to 500cc bike’ class, saw Oliver Holmes (Holeshot KTM) and Charley Mills (KTM SMR) go head-to-head. Mills had the better of Holmes until the final run when the latter pulled a 45.5s run out of the bag to take the class as well as record the fastest bike time of the day. Third was Lee Le Feuvre on his Castle Cars KTM with a time of 46.05s.

Mills’ sister, Chloe, who was also competing in this class on a Honda, broke the 50-second barrier with a very creditable 49.21s final run.

The fastest man on a historic bike was Alan Bertram on a Honda CB 350 (56.1s), while in the Karts section James Labey was top junior with a time of 47.07s – a time that would have put many of the larger and faster cars to shame. Sammy Kerwin won the Max Senior class with a very quick 47.47s run and the 125 Class was won by Tom Snell from Guernsey.

The club thanked St John Ambulance and Normandy Rescue who were on hand and the sponsor, Valla for their season long support.
