Gallery: Seaside Festival

This year marked the 11th Seaside Festival and for the first time was organised by the Parish of St Helier and the Havre des Pas Improvement Group.

For the last decade, Empire Catering owner Mario Pirozzolo has organised the event. However this year he announced he would not be running the festival because he had not secured sponsorship.

Six weeks ago, St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft asked permission from the Bailiff’s office for the parish and the Havre des Pas Improvement Group to take over the organisation of the event.

A total of 18,700 visitors enjoyed sun, sea and a range of food and activities at the festival yesterday and Mr Crowcroft said that the event was ‘popular’ and ‘well-attended’ and it was ‘guaranteed’ that it would continue to be a part of people’s social calendars.

‘It was much busier than I ever remember it being,’ he said.

‘We had wonderful weather, beach volleyball, fun fair rides, local musicians playing right through the day, people sunbathing, sitting on the beach with their families. The atmosphere was great.’

‘The St Helier honorary police were on hand and they did a great job.’

He added that the parish would be looking to secure sponsorship for next year’s event.
