Town ticket office opens as the Battle countdown begins

The stars of the show, Miss Battle Chantelle Mundy and the Battle Bee, visited the kiosk yesterday to launch town ticket sales for the floral carnival.

Located next to Costa Coffee, the kiosk will be open daily in the lead-up to next week’s parades. It will be open from 10 am until 4 pm until Sunday, and from 8.30 am until 6 pm next week, with the exception of Friday 14 August, when it will close at 4 pm.

The Battle of Flowers will take place on Victoria Avenue on the afternoon of Thursday 13 August, with the Moonlight Parade following on Friday 14 August.

CHANTELLE Mundy was crowned Miss Battle of Flowers 2015 at a competition back in April.

The former Hautlieu School head girl has spent the past year working as a video journalist at the Jersey Evening Post.

Judges announced Miss Mundy (19), who is from St Brelade, as the 62nd holder of the title at the competition final held at the Jersey Arts Centre.

Miss Mundy, who was the runner-up in the Miss St Brelade competition, was surprised and delighted to win the crown.

‘I didn’t expect to win at all. I didn’t even think I would get into the final five after seeing how amazing the other competitors were – they were incredible,’ she said at the time.

‘When I heard my name called out it was the best feeling ever. It’s so good.

‘I had the most fantastic time. All the other girls were lovely and it was a difficult competition. I feel so honoured to have won and I can’t wait to start getting involved as much as possible.

Miss Mundy’s interests include photography, charity work and baking, and she describes herself as enthusiastic, creative, confident and reliable.

She will lead the Battle of Flowers parades on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 August, as well as attending functions both on and off the Island, representing Jersey and the Battle of Flowers as part of her 12-month reign.
