AN explicit image on display at the Battle of Flowers funfair which features an expletive and a DJ groping a woman’s breasts is to be removed on the orders of the Constable.

The picture, on the side of a ride at the fair, shows world-renowned dance DJ David Guetta standing behind a blonde woman with his hands cupping her breasts alongside the slogan ‘F**k Me I’m Famous’ – the name of a series of compilation albums by a French artist.

The fair, at the People’s Park, is associated with the Battle of Flowers but is owned by the Funtazia Travelling Theme Park.

St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft says the image will be taken down.

He spoke to the organisers responsible for bringing the fair to Jersey and told them to remove it.

Mr Crowcroft said the image was ‘sexist and completely inappropriate’ for an event that attracts hundreds of children.

‘I have spoken to Jason Maindonald, who is in charge of bringing it over, and he has told me it is going to be removed,’ Mr Crowcroft said.

‘I have not seen it before but I understand from Jason that it has been displayed previously.

‘I find it inappropriate, especially in that location at the moment where families and children will be going.

‘Jason said it has not provoked any comments before, but I just said to him that it was completely inappropriate because of its portrayal of women and because of the language used.’

Jackie Donald, the event director for the Jersey Battle of Flowers, said that she was not aware of the sign but had spoken to James Cole, the owner of the Funtazia Travelling Theme Park, who said it was going to be taken down imminently.

The fair, which is due to open tomorrow, traveled to the Island for the Fête de St Helier earlier this month in the Parade.

It was then moved to the Weighbridge in the interim before it was eventually taken to the People’s Park.

It will be open for the next two weeks.
