Smoke began pouring across parts of the FB Fields in St Clement at about 7.45 pm and some spectators reported hearing small explosions coming from the outbuilding, which belonged to a nearby house.
Two crews from the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control.

It was later discovered that the fire had been caused by an over-worked and over-heating freezer.
No one was injured.
In a statement, the service urged Islanders to ensure that sheds and other outbuildings are well ventilated and that the area around any freezer or fridge is clean and not over-loaded with flammable items.
