Boy rescued from rocks at Beauport

Jersey Costguard received a report of two boys, one of whom had injured his foot, at 4 pm and launched both St Helier lifeboats, in addition to the rigid inflatable boat (RIB) used by the RNLI lifeguards on duty in St. Brelade’s Bay.

At the time of the report, sea conditions were rough and there was a strong force 6-7 wind.

As the lifeboats approached the bay, they spotted the two boys on the rocks and used the smaller inflatable craft to get close inshore to rescue the injured boy, who was then brought back to the St Helier Lifeboat Station, where his parents were waiting.

Meanwhile, his friend made his way back to shore across the rock and was met by Jersey Coastguard members.

Will Glenn, RNLI Jersey lifeguard supervisor said: ‘We always advise the public to swim between the red and yellow flags at lifeguarded beaches (St Brelade’s, St Ouen’s, Plémont and Greve de Lecq) and to check the tide times to ensure you have plenty of time and tide, especially before tidal cut off.’
