Visitors to the site will also be able to view all of the categories in detail, listen and watch interviews with sponsors and learn more about the prestigious awards.

The awards are a celebration of Jersey’s community heroes and have been launched as the centrepiece of the Jersey Evening Post’s 125th anniversary year. They aim to recognise everyone from grandparents and neighbours to ambassadors and inspirational leaders.

As well as being able to nominate candidates online, Islanders can now also take the nomination forms, which are being printed in the JEP every day, along to the reception area at any parish hall and post them in the special post boxes provided. Readers can also continue to post their nomination forms to the JEP if they prefer.

JEP deputy editor Carl Walker, who is organising the event, said: ‘After a very busy first month of the nomination phase of the awards we are delighted to now be able to start receiving nominations both online and via the parish halls.

‘Our specially-designated website, prideofjersey.com, has all the information anyone needs about the awards and also allows people to fire off as many different nominations as they wish.

‘And our special Island community would not be the same without the vital role our parishes play, so we are equally thrilled that all 12 have teamed up with us to allow Islanders to drop nomination forms off at their receptions.

‘There is just over a month until the closing date, so all that remains now is for readers to continue nominating all of those special people in our community who deserve some recognition for what they do.’

Nominations for the Pride of Jersey Awards close on 30 June and only one nomination is required per individual. Public voting will begin in July.
