At 9.21 pm a small car mounted the central reservation on Victoria Avenue and hit a lamp post.
The damaged car was made safe on the arrival of emergency services and paramedics helped an injured woman into an ambulance before she was taken to hospital.
Later at 9.57 pm, emergency services were called out again after a car turned over in St Peter’s Valley with the occupant trapped inside.
The vehicle was stabilised and hydraulic equipment was used to free the occupant, who was then taken to hospital.
Police have called for drivers to be careful in the slippery conditions.
