LONDON four-piece Rudimental have been revealed as the first headliners for this year’s Jersey Live.

The drum and bass band, who shot to fame in 2012 when their debut single Feel the Love featuring John Newman went to No 1, will be topping the bill on Sunday 6 September, with the Saturday headliners still to be announced.

Since then, Rudimental have gone from strength to strength, collecting numerous awards and have amassed a growing legion of fans in the process.

Last year, they won a Brit Award for their hit Waiting All Night which claimed the Best British Single while their first album Home, another chart topping success, was nominated for the Best British Album.

A band on the verge of a massive breakout year, Years and Years continue Jersey Live's proud reputation of providing Islanders a chance to see up-and-coming acts. The trio won the prestigious BBC Sound of 2015 award, won in previous years by the likes of Sam Smith, Adele and Ellie Goulding. Their single King topped the charts earlier this month.

Favourites among Jersey music fans following sell-out DJ sets at the Watersplash, Rudimental have developed an international reputation for their energetic live shows and last year performed a high-profile slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

The Jersey Live main stage will also feature performances from 21-year-old singer-songwriter George Ezra, whose debut album Wanted on Voyage was one of the biggest selling records of last year.

Two electropop acts with recent number one singles will also be sharing the stage at the Royal Jersey Showground on the first weekend of September.

Clean Bandit, who opened the festival in 2013, return to the Island after huge international success with the hit Rather Be, with BBC Sound of 2015 winners Years and Years joining them on the bill.

Britpop band Cast, Liverpool quarter Circa Waves, rock band Slaves and blues band The Bohicas round off the first Jersey Live announcement.

Warren Le Sueur, co-organiser of Jersey Live, said: ‘It goes without saying that we’re delighted to make our first line up announcements They’ve appeared in Jersey as DJs in the past but their live show is a whole other level, and certainly befitting of the Main Stage headline slot.

‘We’ve got some fantastic young artists in the likes of Clean Bandit, Slaves and George Ezra, and of course the legendary John Power with Cast, who have enough indie anthems to ensure that their show will be really, really special. There’s more to come, so watch this space!’

Further announcements are expected next month and spring saver tickets go on sale via the Jersey Live website tomorrow.

Liverpool band Cast will be a familiar name to Britpop fans with 2015 marking 20 years since the release of the debut album all change. Known for hits such as Walk Away and Alright, Cast have become festival favourites since reforming in 2010. With Oasis' Noel Gallagher describing Cast's live shows as a 'religious experience', their slot on the main stage could prove to be one of the highlights of the weekend.

THE multi-platinum selling drum & bass quartet are made up of Piers Agget, Amir Amor, Kesi Dryden and DJ Locksmith, and since the 2012 release of their breakthrough Number One single ‘Feel The Love’ with Jersey Live 2014 star John Newman, their profile has rocketed.

Rudimental’s 2013 debut album Home reached Number One in the UK album chart, going on to achieve Platinum-selling status and earning them a coveted Mercury Prize nomination, three MTV EMA nominations and the prize for Best Album at the MOBO Awards. In 2014, Rudimental won their first Brit Award, the Best Single prize for their Number One hit with Ella Eyre, ‘Waiting All Night’.

Having collaborated with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, Labrinth and Angel Haze, Rudimental are certainly one of the world’s most sought-after dance acts right now, and are an explosive live act perfectly suited to the Jersey Live Main Stage.

In their own words, they say: ‘We aren’t just electronic bedroom producers, and we’re not just guitarists and pianists who don’t know much about making a beat… You can’t really box us into a category, we’re more about musicality, songwriting and broader influences. We are Sly and the Family Stone, Todd Edwards and Dr. Dre in a cheeseburger!’

DESCRIBED by BBC Radio One’s Zane Lowe as ‘one of the most compelling and powerful new vocalists around’, 21 year-old Bristolian George Ezra has enjoyed a stellar rise in the past year, having announced his arrival in the big league when shortlisted for the influential BBC Sound of 2014 list and releasing his debut longplayer, the Number One and Platinum-selling album Wanted On Voyage.

One of Britain’s brightest young musical talents, Ezra cites Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie as his most important influences, which can be heard through his earthy blues stylings that defy his tender age.

CLEAN Bandit return to Jersey Live after debuting in the Island two years ago, and they do so as fully-fledged A-listers, with a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording (for single ‘Rather Be’) earlier this year cementing their place as international stars at the music industry’s top table.

Their fusion of electronic and classical music has seen them capture the imagination of fans worldwide and if their 2015 Jersey Live appearance is anything like their last one, a swirl of pop-house beats and live strings, it’ll be a show to be remembered.
