If given the go-ahead, the proposed new building would also be home to the Jersey Sea Cadets, who are looking to move from their current base at Fort Regent.
The development is being backed by Assistant Treasury Minister Eddie Noel, who revealed that plans were due to be formally submitted to the Planning Department ‘in the next few weeks’.
Before a meeting on Friday afternoon with Deputy Noel, Clive Russell, president of the Jersey Rowing Club, said the plans could ‘crush’ the Island’s ‘thriving’ rowing club. But afterwards he said the talks had been constructive and the future now looked brighter.
