App makes visits to the doctor a thing of the past

Described as the ‘world’s first integrated mobile health service’, the system will also securely store patient data for future use, ensuring patients and doctors are able to access health statistics quickly and conveniently.

At the moment five Island surgeries – the Island Medical Centre, Castle Quay Surgery, Health Plus, Cleveland Clinic and Lister Surgery – are signed up, meaning that 55,000 residents will be able to benefit from the service, which starts on 17 November.

Talks with babylon began a year ago and have involved Digital Jersey, the Social Security Department and local GPs. The app will be available to download on iPhones and Android devices free of charge, with the price of the consultation to be decided by the individual surgeries.
