From GP’s surgery to a seat in the States

The first-time politician finished sixth in the Senatorial poll this week, ahead of two established States Members, Senators Lyndon Farnham and Philip Ozouf.

Promoting a message of health reform and community care along the way, her intentions to stand for Health Minister have been clear from the start.

However, the 54-year-old GP, who has extensive experience in safeguarding children, primary care and mental health care, said that her decision to run was something of a last-minute affair that only became certain by lunchtime on Tuesday 16 September – the day of the Senatorial nomination meeting.
