And she has also warned that pressures on the Ambulance Service are going to increase further in the coming years as the Island’s ageing population is expected to soar by 35 per cent by 2020.
Her comments come after the JEP revealed earlier this week that firefighters will be on standby to provide treatment to those suffering from conditions such as heart attacks and strokes when paramedics are overstretched and cannot be diverted.
